Ewa Polit

Integrative Psychotherapist

Ewa is a qualified psychotherapist having completed her diploma in psychotherapy. Ewa is also studying for her MSc is Clinical Psychology which she is due to complete this summer. Ewa has over 3 years experience in psychotherapy and she is also a qualified coach. Ewa is a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) and is experienced in delivering psychotherapy and professional coaching to  corporate clients, individuals and couples.  Ewa is able to utilise an integrative approach to therapy by drawing upon CBT, psychodynamic, person-centred and humanistic approaches. Ewa has also undertaken EMDR training and many other continuing professional development courses such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Compassion focussed therapy.

Jaclyn Henderson

Integrative / CBT therapist

Jaclyn is a qualified CBT therapist. Jaclyn has a BA in Social Policy and Pg Diploma in Drug and Alcohol Studies. Jaclyn works with adults with a range of presenting issues to help support them in achieving their goals. Issues that Jaclyn treats range from anxiety, depression, self-esteem and confidence to ADHD and addictive behaviours. Jaclyn has combined her studies and her therapeutic experience to develop a special interest in working with the impact of problematic substance and alcohol use and all associated behaviours. Jaclyn is member of the BABCP, BACP and COSCA. Jaclyn works with adults and couples.

Rory Cameron

Integrative / CBT therapist

Rory Cameron is a qualified CBT Counsellor and has worked with a wide range of issues including childhood trauma, anorexia, GAD, domestic abuse, and complicated grief. He also works with client age groups ranging from 16 and upwards.

Rory can integrate where necessary other counselling methods including Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis for areas such as childhood or relationship issues. He is experienced in time focused CBT counselling and is able to build a strong therapeutic alliance, quickly, with clients.

Rory completed the COSCA Counselling Certificate and Diploma in CBT Counselling and Groupwork (4 years) and is a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Lyn Longman

Integrative / CBT Therapist

Lyn Longman – Integrative/ CBT Therapist

Lyn Longman is a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), having completed a Diploma in CBT, after studying psychology at the University of Strathclyde. Lyn is registered with both COSCA (The Scottish Association of counselling and psychotherapy) and BACP (The British Association of counselling and psychotherapy).

Lyn is also an accredited life and career coach, specialising in performance improvement coaching. Since qualifying as a CBT therapist, Lyn has gained a wide range of experience working with different disorders such as panic disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, depression and OCD amongst others. Lyn has a special interest in anxiety disorder and phobias, as well as self -harm and social anxiety, from her work with young people in an educational setting. Lyn currently works with adults.

Janet Rae

Integrative / CBT therapist

Janet is an experienced practitioner, having built upon her degree in Behavioural Science with extensive training and accreditation. A qualified counsellor, CBT therapist & Accredited BABCP member, she has specialist training and experience in a variety of fields and techniques, including trauma/PTSD work, Mindfulness & Neurolinguistic Programming, and is qualified in Advanced Studies in Psychotherapy. Janet treats a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, amongst others, and has a special interest in the treatment of trauma and PTSD. Janet also offers clinical supervision and works with adults.

Joan Auld

Accredited EMDR Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)

Joan is an Accredited EMDR Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN). She has worked in the NHS for over 20 years and also as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Therapist. Joan has a special interest in the treatment of trauma and works with issues ranging from childhood trauma to car accidents and even vicarious trauma. Joan also uses EMDR in the treatment of general mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and has a keen interest in the treatment of chronic pain and eating disorders. Joan also offers hypnotherapy, NLP, Life Coaching and CBT/motivational/solution focussed and family systemic approaches. Joan works with both adults and children/adolescents. She can also work with families.

Lisa Mauchlen

Integrative / CBT therapist

Lisa is a qualified Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Therapist. She holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology and a Diploma in CBT & Groupwork. Lisa works with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, confidence, trauma, OCD, ADHD and addiction. Lisa works integratively and therefore draws on a number of different approaches in addition to CBT, such as mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment approaches.  Lisa works with both adults and adolescents from the age of 12.

Lisa works both remotely via videocall/phone and can be seen in-person at our Ayr Clinic.

Louise Bannister

Integrative / CBT therapist

Louise is a qualified Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Therapist and holds a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Louise is also due to become BABCP accredited in the coming months. Louise has developed experience with a variety of clients working with well-known organisations such as Childline in addition to her private practice. She works with both children/young people and adults on issues including anxiety, depression, OCD, confidence, self-esteem, and sexuality.

Samantha Chapman-Allen

CBT Psychotherapist

Samantha is a qualified CBT therapist, registered with BACP and BABCP. Samantha work with a range of issues including: Depression, ADHD, Panic Disorder with and without Agoraphobia, PTSD, Specific Phobia, Social anxiety, Low Self Esteem, Grief, Obsessive compulsive disorder , Generalised anxiety disorder, Health anxiety and many more. Samantha is available for in-person sessions at both our Glasgow and Edinburgh Clinics and also remotely. Remote appointments can be booked whilst the therapist is at one of our Edinburgh or Glasgow Clinics.

Margaret Cairns

CBT & EMDR Therapist, RMN

Maggie is a qualified CBT and EMDR Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse. Maggie is an experienced mental health practitioner having worked in the NHS for several years. Maggie also uses CBT in her approach and she has completed the PG Diploma in CBT at the UWS. Maggie is also due to become BABCP accredited in the coming months. Maggie can work with various issues including anxiety, depression, panic, ADHD and also specialises in the treatment of trauma/PTSD. Maggie also has a special interest in the psychological support of women experiencing the menopause. Maggie works primarily with adults.

Ruth Slessor

EMDR Therapist, OT

Ruth is a qualified Occupational Therapist, EMDR therapist and Mindfulness Teacher. Ruth was employed in various roles in the NHS, latterly in Staff Support. Ruth offers one to one EMDR and mindfulness sessions. to enhance well-being and personal development. Ruth shares that, like many of us, she has experienced variations in her mental health and has learned how our minds work, to give her greater insight into managing her emotions. She values respect, kindness and justice and aims to be a non-judgemental, authentic listener who can create the conditions for personal change and growth.

Patience Mawema Muchena

Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner

Patience is a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and has 21 years’ experience working with children, young adults and families in the UK. She hold a BSc in Nursing, a PgDip in Systemic Practice and a Diploma in Mental Health.

Patience has a specialist in child mental and emotional well being. She has worked as a therapist and manager for a number of services. Patience has worked in clinics, schools and the criminal justice system. Here at Enlightened Psychology & Counselling, Patience provides a specailist post diagnosis support service for clients with ADHD and/or Autism. Patience provides 1:1 and group support.

Gemma Holmes

Chartered Psychologist / Clinical Lead

Gemma is an HCPC Registered & Chartered Psychologist, Accredited CBT Psychotherapist and qualified EMDR Therapist. Gemma has over eighteen years’ experience of working in mental health settings, ranging from secure forensic psychiatric inpatient services to general adult/private outpatient clinics. As such, Gemma has experience working with a wide range of psychological difficulties and disorders including anxiety, depression, phobias, OCD, addictions, trauma, attachment and relational difficulties, psychosis and offending behaviour. Gemma has trained extensively in several different therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Mindfulness and uses Schema and Compassion Focussed approaches.

Gemma holds an Advanced Professional Practice Certificate in the Supervision of Counsellors and Psychotherapists from Strathclyde University and is registered with the British Psychological Society as a RAPPS Accredited Clinical Supervisor. Gemma is also on the BPS Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy (ROPSIP).

Gemma also has a specialist interest in the assessment of ADHD and Autism/ ASD, having completed her ADHD assessment & diagnosis training via Kings College London and UKAAN. Gemma trained and worked initially at the prestigious Harley Psychiatry Clinic, London, providing ADHD assessments for adults. Gemma is also furthering her professional development by studying the BPS Diploma in Autism and Mental Health.

Gemma now offers both ADHD and Autsim / ASD assessments via our sister company Enlightened Minds.

Dr Karen Gray

Counselling Psychologist

Karen is an experienced Counselling Psychologist and is registered with the HCPC and as a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.

Karen has experience in using Person-centred psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Schema Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy. Karen is also an EMDR therapist.

Karen works with adults and young people and has developed specialist expertise in working with people experiencing a range of anxiety conditions including OCD and panic, complex trauma, PTSD, depression, grief and loss and relationship issues, and with co-occurring conditions including more dominant personality traits and also functional difficulties.

Dr Russ Denny

Counselling Psychologist

Russ Denny, Chartered Counselling Psychologist, with extensive hours of face-to-face and remote client experience working within the NHS, charitable, and private sectors.   A strong integrative Practitioner Psychologist with experience and knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Lifespan Development. Russ has a special interest in Chronic Pain/management having worked within the Psychology and Pain Management Department of NHS Lothian – part of a multidisciplinary team of Clinical, Counselling, & Health Psychologists, Physiotherapists, and Nurse Prescribers providing a comprehensive Pain Management Programme for individuals and groups.

He also has extensive experience with clients in third sector and private practice presenting with chronic pain and chronic health conditions such as COPD, ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, Amputation, Endometriosis, and Spinal injury.

Dr Rani Sinnak

Clinical NeuroPsychologist

Rani is a Consultant Clinical Neuro and Health Psychologist, having worked for over 40 years with NHS Ayrshire and Arran patients in the areas of Neuropsychology and Clinical Health Psychology. Rani offers help with anxiety, depression, phobias, bereavement or loss, obsessions and compulsions, stress, workplace problems, low self-esteem, coping with life events and transitions, the impact of PTSD or brain injury and any medical or neuropsychological condition causing distress.

Dr Pamela McColm

Clinical Psychologist

Pamela is a Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience across a range of client groups and disorders. Pamela was a consultant psychologist in the Older Adult, Clinical Health and Neuropsychology, NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

Pamela’s specific areas of interest include psychological assessment and developing person centred approaches for dementia patients and their families.

She is also highly experienced with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) with adults and older adults and in working with Eating Disorders. Pamela also uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with both physical and mental health conditions and she also offers Bariatric assessment and professional supervision and mentoring.
